2009.-ben fantasztikusan erős mezőny jött össze Budapesten a GDF SUEZ Budapest Grand Prix elnevezésű, 220 ezer dollár összdíjazású versenyen. A későn nevező Patty Schnyder rendezői szabadkártyával lett a verseny első számú kiemeltje, ranglistás helyezése alapján. A második kiemelt Alizé Cornet volt Franciaországból, a torna tavalyi győztese. Harmadik kiemeltként vett részt a versenyen az ausztrál Sybille Bammer. Az utolsó játékos, aki saját jogon kerülhetett a főtáblára a ranglistán 91. helyezett.
